Angelo E. Gousse M.D. ( Biography )

After a four-year tenure as  Vice President, Dr Angelo E Gousse serves as the current president of the AMHE South Florida Chapter. A graduate of Yale University School of Medicine,  Dr Gousse  is one of the very few fellowship-trained reconstructive and neuro-urologists in the State of Florida. Dr Gousse ( Clinical Professor of Surgery-Urology at FIU )  is  the Fellowship  Director of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Urology at the Memorial Hospital Miramar. Dr Gousse is a former tenured Professor of Urology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Department of Urology, Vice-Chairman of the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics Urology service, where he was also the Urology Residency Program Director and Fellowship Director for more than ten years. His academic and teaching  activities are now at an international level.

After graduating as the valedictorian of the City University of New York (York College), Dr. Gousse received his medical degree (cum laude) with highest honors from the Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas and a postdoctoral fellowship in Urodynamics, female urology and pelvic floor reconstruction at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA ) . Certified by the American Board of Urology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, he has performed more than one-thousand complex reconstructive procedures and has published more than 90 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters. His investigator-initiated research projects on Botox chemodernervation in human subjects led to the first FDA urologic indication of Botox in the United States.

 In addition, Dr. Gousse serves on the American Urology Association (AUA)  Female Urology Core Curriculum Committee , AUA Guideline Committee ,AUA Scientific Committee. and as the Section Editor of the Female Urology section in the journal Current Urology Reports. He remains an active award winning reviewer for the Journal of Urology, Neuro-Urology and Urodynamics, Urology . Working with the Global Philanthropic Committee in Urology (GPC) , he is currently the AUA liaison for the Global Association for the support of Haitian Urology (GASHU) dedicated to developing the field of Urology in Haiti. A powerful voice and leader in GASHU, he has served as chair and organizer of the internationally well attended yearly didactic Urology Conference in Haiti.

 Listed in “Best Doctors in America”  for 15 consecutive years 2005-2020, Best Doctors US News and World Report 2011-2012, America’s Top Urologists by the prestigious Consumer’s Research Council of America 2008, Strathmore’s Who’s Who since 2001, the Miller University of Miami Medical School’s Urology Teacher of the Year Award on numerous occasions, the Pfizer Scholars in Urology Award, the Cullen Research Award from the Scott Department of Urology, Baylor College of Medicine, and the Dr. Jonas Salk Scholar Award .
