Dr. Marie Eveline Moise
Dr. Marie Eveline Moise is an Internist who retired in 2015 after 35 years of career in the United States
Since her retirement, she has been in Haiti, volunteering her services in higher education, medical education and improving the quality of care provided to the population.
Dr Moise spent the first two years of her retirement at the Hospital Bienfaisance of Pignon where she was able to make some important changes for the better. Following the new transformations she implemented, the Pignon hospital has received from the Ministry of Public Heath the approval for the practical training of medical students.
She is the main advisor for Health Sciences at the Office of the President of the State University of Haiti and Vice President of the Board of the Christian Mission of Pignon.
Dr Moise graduated from medical school at the University of Brussels and did her Training in internal Medicine at Harlem Hospital/Columbia University. She worked at Harlem hospital/Columbia University for about 10years as a teaching attending in Internal medicine and Emergency Medicine.
Then she moved to the state of Florida where she had a private practice for 2 years
She went to Haiti where she spent 6 years as the Director of training and research for the State university of Haiti. In that capacity, she oversaw residency programs nationwide.
She returned to the United States where she worked as a Medical Director for The VA of Boca Raton, then joined the medical staff of the Memorial Health Care System in Florida where she worked for more than ten years while being an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine for Nova University and Florida International University (FIU)
Dr Moise is well known for her humanitarian work, her tireless efforts to help in Health education and quality of care in her community. The testimony of her contribution in the field of health in Haiti remains vivid.
In 2015 the Memorial Health Care System of Florida granted Dr Moise an award which is given once a year to one employee among about 16,000. The “Hero of the year award”.
Owing to her passion for Emergency Medicine, she was able to build a partnership between the State University of Haiti and the National EMS for training of First Aid Providers and Training-of-trainers-in-first aid in several regions of Haiti. More than 500 rescuers have been trained in about 2 years. The work continues with the trainers in different parts of Haiti. The goal is to train 3,000 first aid providers in the next 2 years.
